About The Event

At this workshop, we will discuss the importance of a child's "freedom of expression".

What does this mean? What does it imply? How does it affect children? How should we encourage it? Have we seen our children manage to do it?

Freedom of expression is more than just the conveyance of thought and words. It is also a conveyance of ideas through our daily actions and behaviour. It could also be dramatically expressed into art, music, and/or dance. Humans who have mastered the freedom of expression typically possess great confidence, control of movement, and coordination in the mediums where they choose to express themselves.

This Saturday, we will be inviting Mr Yeong Wei, Greentree Montessori's very own dance and movement teacher for the past 5 years to guide you on these discussions. At the workshop, you will have the opportunity to learn to move and discover your own body in the process. You will also be able to find out what your child has been doing during their dance lessons at Greentree Montessori. Most importantly, you will be able to learn strategies you can apply immediately at home with your own children.

To set the tone of the workshop, we would like to share this quote from Yeong Wei:

“A child needs your presence, and not just receive your validation.

A child needs to build their own experience, and not just receive education.

A child needs to be heard, and not just to be told.”
